Some of the companies manufacturing testing supplies also offer help to people obtaining them. Check out one of their websites.

There are ALL kinds of companies that offer free meters with a months supply of strips but usually after that month the strips can be expensive. Don't switch from one meter to another bcuz each meter will be slightly different in readings and it is possible to really mess your sugars up. Call some of the meter companies and ask about low-income based services for testing supplies. Try PPA.org or maybe it's PPA.com. Prescription Plan of America is what it's called. Also, your Dr may get free smaples of things from drug reps and the office can specifically ask for a certain type of strip each month for a short time. Alot of states have prescription plans that htey don't publish to the general public but if you go to your Medicaid office (medical welfare) and tell them you have health insurance just not Rx coverage they may be able to help.
