I have the same pain in the legs and butt and hands. I do not have those pain from diabetic periherl neuropathy but have them from poly arthritis and fybro nueralgia. I have found a drug on the internet, Cymbalta, it is really for depression but it has a side effect on relief of pain for your condition and mine. It has helped me somewhat but I still take Vikoden 750 1/2 a day and advil 400 twice a day. I hope this help a little. P>S< my doctor gave me the prescription for Cymbalta…..try it

Doc just put me on Cymbalta and after three days, I don’t have that pain anymore.
Only draw back for me so far was I got blisters on my upper lip from an allergic reaction to the sun. (I don’t get cold sores and never go into the sun due to some other meds so this is the conclusion we all came to.)
This is actually an anti-depresant but the side effect kills the neuo pain.
Neurotin made me crazy. I felt like killing myself while on it and I am a very happy person even though my health is horrid.

I have a friend who has severe diabetic neuropathy. Her doctor recently ordered anodyne treatment. I don’t know all the details but it has definitely helped the neuropathy. The only problem is that discontinuing the treatments will cause the neuropathy to revert back to being really bad again.

What meds are you taking? Neurontin is most commonly prescribed for diabetic neuropathy. but I’m not sure what you’re already on… so….

If you are diabetic, you must control your blood sugars. The tighter your control the better.
I have peripheral neuropathy, but not due to diabetes, I have yet to find anything to control the pain all the time, I seem to go in waves of severe pain, and then less severe, there is never no pain. It is really upsetting that nothing can be done.
