There are medications your doctor can prescribe, but before you go there, try using a cream called “capsaicin”. One of the brands available is Zostrix. It is often recommended to ease the pain of shingles and it is found to be helpful to relieve any painful condition of neural origin. It will cause quite a bit of heat and you have to make sure to wash your hands very well after applying (or else other parts of your body that you touch may not be appropriate to feel this kind of heat, if you know what I mean). Be patient – use it for at least a month to make sure you give it enough time to work. Remember, any foot problem, when you have diabeetes, should be looked at by a health care professional: a physician or a nurse, for example.

One serious cause of chronic burning feet is sensory peripheral neuropathy. This results from damage to the nerves that transmit sensation from the arms, hands, legs and feet to the brain. Causes of sensory peripheral neuropathy include:
    Diabetic neuropathy
    Alcohol abuse
Vitamin B-12 deficiency anemia (pernicious anemia)
Treatment of burning feet is directed at the underlying condition, if known. To help relieve discomfort, try these tips:
Wear socks made of cotton — which allows your feet to “breathe” — rather than synthetic fabrics.
    Avoid standing for long periods.
Take a pain reliever when needed.
Bathe your feet in cool water.
never walk barefoot around the house or outside
look at your foot every day
Don’t use a pair of shoes that don’t fit right
Wash your feet everyday and dry them gently
    and thanks

I use a 75 plant derived minerals and trace elements product alongside a Naturopath friend of mine with our diabetic clients. The product contains plant derived sulphur which is very beneficial for diabetics. We have received excellent results with lowering blood sugars. All patients have been monitored by their doctor.
