What insurance will cover medical supplies for a 20 year old male type 1 diabetic?

20 Jul

I’ve survived long enough on no insurance. I used to have state farm insurance through my parents and they would pay for my insulin/test strip/needle/etc… costs. But I’ve been paying for it on my own through out my college years because I got married.

I live in Michigan and am married. I am a college student with senior standing.

Could somebody please help me?

if the health insurance companies are forced to cover claims that they previously denied will they be?

instrumental in crafting farm and food policies? will unhealthy food be more expensive and healthy food more available if insurance providers aren’t allowed to drop coverage when their customer gets diabetes from eating doughnuts and mcdonalds?
brown:
i am one of the most liberal ones here. i do, however this would all be easier for americans (dem and repub) to accept if the “market” were appearing to fix itself. i would know however, that the govt. made them cover everyone.

Does Medicaid cover most diabetic supplies well in Michigan?

05 Apr

Does Medicaid cover things like test strips, meters, insulin etc. with many choices and many options? Or do they make it difficult for diabetics? This is for a research paper

I just found out my dog has diabetes. Insulin is SO EXPENSIVE! Can I get a pet insurance to cover the costs?

01 Apr

I did a tiny bit of research on dog health insurance, and on one website I read that they don’t cover pre-existing conditions. I’m worried that I won’t be able to find a pet insurance that will cover the costs of the insulin just because I just found out and she’s not on any pet insurance. But I JUST found out, and I also just found out how extremely expensive the Vetsulin (dog insulin) is. There’s no way I will be able to afford it for as long as my dog needs to take it. I will go broke by the end of the month. I could lease a brand new car for that amount of money! It’s way too expensive! I need a dog health insurance that will cover these costs even though it’s technically considered a “pre-existing” condition (even though I just found out about it today). Do all dog health insurances have this ridiculous policy??? Does anyone know of one that will cover the cost of prescribed insulin for diabetes??? One that covers the cost of ultrasounds, x-rays, and prescribed medications would be nice too. Considering the cost of one tiny bottle of Vetsulin is over $50 and with the dosage my dog is supposed to get, the bottle only lasts for 4 days!!! (She’s supposed to get 5 units twice a day, so that’s a total of 10 units per day, and there are only 40 units per bottle.) There’s no way I can afford to pay $50 every 4 days! That’s insane!

Is there any resources ou there to help people with diabetes to cover cost of pump supplies?

09 Mar

I am a diabetic that is currently using an insulin pump for my diabetes management and I have insurance but the insurance that I have does not cover the extra costs with the pump supplies, which is huge. I am not the only one with this issue I am sure. My fear is that I will have to stop using the insulin pump because of the cost which will take away the one thing that has made me feel like a normal person again or as close to as can be. I feel that there are companies making huge amounts of money from the people that have diabetes whom have no other choice but to make them richer because if they don’t they die, there just seems to be an imbalance there. So please if there is any one out there that might have any ideas that can be done with this unfair imbalance of the american way.

How can I get assistance with paying for my prescriptions my insurance wont cover?

07 Mar

i am morbidly obese (5′9″-294 lbs)I have insulin resistant diabetes. In my treatment plan I am to take along with my Metformin 2 other drugs to aid in my weight loss BYETTA-and XENACAL. I also have neuropathy as a complication from the diabetes and am prescribed LYRICA. My insurance will not cover the XENECAL for it is a weight loss drug and considered a “frivilous” expense. Nor will they cover LYRICA for it is new on the market .Ineed these meds in order to live a productive life to help loose the weight so i will not be diabetic. I am 45. I want to live until I’m 75. With out these meds ,I could die in 5 years.
The cost of these meds are -XENECAL-$230.00 for a 30 day supply
LYRICA-$210.00 for a 30 day supply.

Thanks,

H.C.

Other than the Diabetes, I am healthy.

Would Medicare would cover this..?

27 Feb

I get medicare. I see things on Television about medicare can pay diabetes supplies. But would it count for gestational diabetes in pregnant woman. I am pregnant. I am 29 weeks pregnant. I didn’t pass the 1 hour test. I went back to do the three hour test which I didn’t get finish of vomit of the drink. I go see the doctor this Thursday to talk about it. I don’t know if he go by the first one or should try the three hour test again. If they do go by the first one. What would I need for my medicare insurance to cover it. I do get my self tested for Diabetes once a year since both of my parents got it. I want to catch it sooner then finding out later in life. My dad had it since he was 16 year old. I have bipolar which my dad has. My mom has it found out 10 years ago. I do want to protect myself. If it would nice if my insurance pay for the gestational diabetes. They I would pay own pocket afterwards just to check my blood sugar. I know I would need to get used to. Thanks.. I am still new to this medicare.. I also get Medicaid but they no longer cover my medicine or anything. But it just pay the rest of the doctor bills that medicare doesn’t pay.

Is there a Medicare Advantage Plan that can cover drugs during the “doughnut hole” coverage gap?

24 Feb

How can you get around the coverage gap. In 2010, if you your plan has spent $2,830, you will have top pay for drugs yourself until you have spent $4,550.

My father takes insulin so he always runs into this problem.

As A Foreigner, Will The Taiwan Health Insurance Cover My Juvenile Diabetes?

25 Nov

I am considering going to Taiwan for a year or two to teach English, and most employers offer the National Health Insurance. I am concerned about getting blood glucose testing supplies, insulin pumps supplies, and insulin. Clearly there is diabetes in Taiwan, but between the language barrier and trying to explain specifically what I need, it’s been difficult to get answers.
Basically, what I’m trying to find out is if it will cost me an arm and a leg to get my diabetes supplies with the National Health Insurance as well as where I can get what I need, including a doctor’s prescription.
Thank you so much for any info you can offer!
