I have diabetes type II. Should I be using a monitor with the test strips to test my glucose?
How often should I test?
I have gestational diabetes. What should my blood glucose be THREE hours after a meal?
I’ve been doing so well with this gestational diabetes diet that I’ve grown a little bored testing. But today (I’m 36 weeks and two days pregnant), I had a small lunch OUT at a restaurant, where I didn’t really know exactly how many carbs I consumed. Probably too many carbs and not enough protein. My one-hour-post-lunch test is supposed to be less than 140, per my doctor, but it came back high: 159. Opps. So I had a bad lunch after all. But after two hours, I tested again, and it was 175! 120, I am told, is what the max should be after two hours. What should my level be after three hours? Everything I find online gives the levels for the three-hour glucose screening test. This is just a regular after-meal test, three hours later instead of one or two.
I failed my glucose screening test primarily because my sugar after two hours went higher when it should have gone lower. But I don’t want to have my afternoon snack before my blood sugar comes back to a level where it should.
how does body respond to low blood glucose levels after exercising?
So I know that strenuous exercise causes blood glucose levels to decrease. However, how does the body respond to this stress that there is not enough glucose in the blood?
Question about fasting blood glucose in non-diabetic?
This may seem like a silly question, but I’m a hypochondriac and this whole situation has me worried!
I’m almost 23 years old, female, and thin (105 lbs at 5′2″). I have a family history of type 2 diabetes (both my mother and her father have it), and while I’m very thin, I’m also pretty inactive. I’ve been testing my fasting blood sugars for about two years now, generally every couple months or so. When I first began testing, my fasting levels were almost always in the mid to high 80s. In the past several months, however, my fasting levels seem to have gotten higher, and are now almost always in the low to mid 90s. Is this anything to worry about? Is there any way that a young, healthy person whose only risk factors are genetics and inactivity could develop pre-diabetes/type 2… and I’m watching it develop as my fasting levels get higher and higher? Does type 1 develop slowly in this way, and then suddenly cause a rapid onset of symptoms once you’re in the diabetic range (>126)?
In short, is a general increase in fasting sugar levels from the 80s to the 90s over the course of about two years something I need to worry about, or am I concerned over nothing?
Who offers blood glucose meters as part of their diabetic testing supplies?
I’m looking for a blood glucose meter that doesn’t require a test strip. Can you recommend a manufacturer or model that doesn’t need to have a test trip?
Do you have a cat with diabetes? What is the best food to help him keep balanced glucose levels?
I got a cozmo insulin pump in march 2007 and I was thinking about getting a continuous glucose monitor.?
The problem is that I don’t want to carry two things in my pocket at once, as with the cozmo and freestyle navigator. The cozmo in itself is enough for me! The only option that has cgm and insulin pump in one is paradigm. Do you think insurance would cover all of this even though I just got a cozmo a little over a year ago?
Do you still use insulin and check your glucose level with type 2 diabetes?
I think i may have diabetes (type 1 or type 2 not sure yet) but do you still need to check your glucose level and insulin injections
How is blood glucose concentration maintained during fasting?
‘After two days of fasting the body stores of glycogen are low. Explain how blood glucose concentration is maintained in these circumstances.’
Only degree-level answers please, cheers.
Can I use my glucose monitor to my 3 and 5 yr old kids? Normal blood sugar level for kids?
i am diabetic and i am concerned that my kids are going to have it too. They love to eat sweets. I am doing the best I can to give them a healthy meal. But I can’t monitor them 24 hours a day. Sometimes, they go home after playing outside telling me that they ate candies at somebody else’s house.
What’s the most reasonably priced Blood Glucose Meter to test for low blood sugar?
What’s the best/accurate & most reasonably priced Blood Glucose Meter to test for low blood sugar. I’m really low on money at the moment but need to test regularly. I don’t have Diabetes-I think it’s from Liver damage.

Glucose in my urine..gestational diabetes? Any info appreciated?
I am 36 weeks prego and passed my glucose intolerance test at 26 weeks so I was not considered to have gestational diabetes but I frequently had hypoglycemic attacks (usually when I had oj and sugary instant oatmeal for breakfast and waited too long for lunch) Yesterday they found glucose in my urine after I left and my doc called me and told me to cut out the sweets and watch my sugar intake. Does this mean I have gestational diabetes? I did eat ice cream the night before my urine test which was taken early in the am, dont know if that matters. I am going to the doc again on Mon and will have a blood test done to see whats up but until then I would like to know what it is. I am now following a diabetic diet (Im a nurse but not familiar with diabetes, I do know the diet though from working with patients) just in case to reduce the risk of increased insulin production in my baby. Any info? Do you think it was the ice cream that did it? Is the glucose in the urine a sign? I will chose best answer asap and give pos ratings, thank you
