Getting a blood test this week per VA instruction; I take Percocet on a daily basis. How long till it’s gone?

21 Apr

The reason I’m asking is because I’ve been on this med for almost 2 years now, courtesy of a head-on collision, and since I get my meds for free from the VA, I don’t want them to say I’m “overdosing” and cut me off, basically. I mean, we have insurance but the VA always gives meds in bulk, and I’m talking 240 pills for a ONE-MONTH supply (8 Percocet daily). Sometimes I exceed that due to headache and neck pain, but I don’t believe they’ll accept that as a reasonable “excuse” to take more than allotted.
Since I HAVE to get this bloodwork done (supposedly a cholesterol/FBS/diabetes workup), and I KNOW they’re going to check for how much of this I’ve been taking (no, I can’t stop altogether—the pain is all day, every day, no letup), what should I do to lessen the level of narcotic in my blood between now and, say, Thursday?? Any info would be appreciated—as long as it’s accurate! :)
Thanks,
Deb

Is it normal for a diabetic to lose weight? I’ve gone from about 140 pounds to about 120 in the last 2 years.

03 Apr

I am skin and bone. I have no apetite and my biggest problem is not knowing what to eat. I have had diabetes for about 3 years and this small town has no endocrinologist. I know more about the disease than my family doctor. I ‘m trying to get the money to buy my testing supplies. My husband is no longer attracted to me because he likes full-figured women, apparently over a sick thin one.

How has the endocrine system gone wrong in these conditions: Diabetes 1, Diabetes 2, Goiters, and Gigantism?

Has Anyone Out There Gone From An Insulin Pump Back To Injections?

08 Feb

I would appreciate it if you would share your experience with me. I have had type 1 diabetes for 21 years. I started out with injections but went on a pump 9 years ago. Financially I can no longer afford pump supplies. I’m fine with going back to injections, just curious to hear from others with related experiences. Thanks.
