On Jun 21, had a steroid injection in left side for sacroiliac joint, after a couple of days felt lighted, just feeling bad. My mom being a nurse-had me chk. blood pressure & blood sugar. Bllod pressure elevated some. But blood sugars stayed in the 300’s of higher, even one time over 500. Just need to know for how long(many days or weeks) does it take for sugars to go back down to normal.

My aunt has diabetes that she needs to get under control.
A lot of her problems are with the way she eats. She has always been diabetic but now is a diabetic with a 3 year old son, husband who doesn’t cook and usually works longs hours 5 days a week.
I am looking for recipes for her that are one shopping trip 7 meals type stuff, that she can make everything for the week on one day. Or at least prep them.
What are your suggestions? I would just like to give her way to help her out. If I was closer I would go to her house and make/prep everything for her once a week or however often, but I can’t do that.

I recently found out that my mother has type 2 diabetes. Its something that runs in our family plus she’s over weight and is obviously in the process of losing. Still, I like to be told straight up the dangers or what may happen with things. So be honest.

My father developed Type 1 diabetes about 7 yrs ago due to alcoholism. Now his kidneys are not functioning well even with medication. I am trying to decide if I need to move back to Georgia from Wisconsin depending on how much time he has to live. I want to spend good quality time with him, not sick and suffering time only.

Since I was young, I’ve had sensitive blood sugar. About once a month I’ll suddenly become very hungry, with horrible headaches and dizziness, and have to stop everything and eat and drink slowly until I can sit up again. This is just my norm. I can’t skip a meal without getting very sick. (Throwing up, shakiness, fatigue) Do you show symptoms of type 1 diabetes suddenly or gradually? I’ve had some minor health problems for a few months, and I feel like something is wrong.

I had a fasting glucose test in late 2006 which returned normal. I went back to the doctor this week and he recommended I retest every 1.5 years to monitor that until I bring certain risk factors under control. Is it possible to go from normal to full blown diabetes in a year?

I am type 2 diabetic and I’ve been doing a low carb diet for a few weeks. However, my fasting sugars are still above 120 (just like before the low-carb.) Can anyone tell me how long it will be until my sugars start stabling out?? I’m only 28 (diagnosed late last year) and I’m only about 15 pounds overweight, so I’ve changed my eating more for my health than for weight loss. (And please, no bashing on how bad a low-carb is for you… Thanks)

Stocking up on insulin, for long term storage.?

I KNOW that you are only supposed to use insulin for 30 days after it has been opened. I am not looking for tips on how to control my diabetes, I am diabetic who undestands my disease and control my blood sugars well. I am looking to stock up on insulin and have a large supply in my fridge in case of disaster or something like that, where I would need to have my own supply of insulin for a long period of time. I am wondering what would be the best way to go about doing this. What kind of insulin lasts the longest, and so forth. And I would be storing it unopened with the seal still on.
My 7 yr old cat is diabetic, What is the best food, treatment, and how long can I expect him to live?
