How can I emotionally support my husband now that he has type 2 diabetes.?

My husband just found out a week ago about his diabetes, and is now in the denial/anger phase. He’s so angry that he takes it out on me and his family. When we try to discuss it with him, he deflects his anger onto us. When I ask him about being angry because of the diabetes, he says he is not angry about that. But he is being very rude, mean, and just general anger toward his family,I can only assume he is in denial about his condition. How should I support him when he is clearly in denial?

I have type 1 diabetes. My husband gets almost angry when I have sick days. I’m tired of being sick and tired with this disease. I’m also sick and tired of feeling quilty. HELP! Is there anyone else out there suffering from the same problem?
To support my wife I am thinking about following her diabetic diet with her – Is there any reason not to?

My wife has been a type II diabetic for a few years now. She recently started taking 5mls Byetta. She absolutly will not exercise. The only thing I can think of to help her is to follow the same diet. I have two teenage boys and yes they eat like horses (and don’t show it) and I will continue to supply them with carbs. I am at a loss on how to help my wife from deteriorating. I am currently reading a book by Dr. Bernstein (Diabetes Solution). Please help, I am open to suggestions.

The American Diabetes Association has an on-line petition to support health reform. The American Cancer Society called my home yesterday talking about their support of Health Insurance Reform.

These groups work with sick people with and without insurance every day. The see the effects of the insurance crisis in the lives of everyday people.
