i’m living in taipei now, and i’m diabetic type II. I’m finishing my supply of blood test stripes that i brought with me from my country,and here i can only find them at a really expensive price (800NT a box of 50stripes) . I do the test 4 times a day (i think thats the average for a common diabetic person). How can people here afford these prices?will i have to spend 800NT every 2 weeks?

I am considering going to Taiwan for a year or two to teach English, and most employers offer the National Health Insurance. I am concerned about getting blood glucose testing supplies, insulin pumps supplies, and insulin. Clearly there is diabetes in Taiwan, but between the language barrier and trying to explain specifically what I need, it’s been difficult to get answers.
Basically, what I’m trying to find out is if it will cost me an arm and a leg to get my diabetes supplies with the National Health Insurance as well as where I can get what I need, including a doctor’s prescription.
