Is This A Healthy Meal Plan For Trying To Lose Weight?

15 Aug

I just need some opinions on this. I’ll be walking for at least 10 minutes tomorrow to and from the bus stop. Also, I will be in track and field so I’ll be going for a good run.

Anyways, here’s my meal plan.

Breakfast: Half a cup of yogurt and one peice of toast with peanut butter.

Lunch: Salad w/ carrots and other goodness. Water.

Supper: Probably a few chicken strips and an orange or something.

Also, I may have diabetes SO I really want to make sure I don’t have too much sugar.
Thanks. Any suggestions appreciated.

Has anyone here ever experienced slightly elevated blood sugar after vigorous weight lifting?

27 Jun

I did my weight lifting a little soon after eating. All within like an hour. The meal was mostly pasta. 15mins after eating I checked it at 162. I know, it was pretty close to a meal.

I’m just curious if any one has ever experienced elevated blood sugar after intense exercise.

Thanks!
Actually, I lifted 15mins after eating and checked blood sugar 15mins after lifting. So actually all in 30mins. I KNOW! Shouldn’t work out so soon after eating! Trust me I know better.
Skatin’….I should have added it sometimes happens even if I haven’t eaten. But you are correct…generally it will go down very quickly.

Some overweight diabetics have been able to reverse their diabetes by losing weight. Are there…?

19 Jun

any statistics about how much weight loss is likely to reverse diabetes. (I realize that not everyone that has diabetes can reverse weight loss with dieting, and that some diabetics are already at ideal body weight.)
Oops. In the second part I meant to say reverse diabetes with weight loss, not dieting with weight loss.

How can I best market my coaching program for weight loss and type II Diabetes control?

15 Jun

My husband has been a type II diabetic for over 25 years. Until 4 years ago, he was in bad shape. He couldn’t walk more than 30 feet because of the neuropathy in both of his feet. He was on 43 units of insulin a night, his weight ballooned to 273 pounds (he is 5′ 11″), he was irritable, he was always tired – even fell asleep at the wheel while driving. I did a lot of research and developed a successful program to help him. 4 years ago, he lost 75 pounds, has not been on insulin for over 3 years, has walked in 2-5K races, walks 2 miles at the gym 4 times a week and works out with weights. His doctor is simply amazed. He is now on only half of his oral meds. I have coached other people and their results are outstanding. They’re doctors are thrilled. I am not a physician nor a nutritionist but I know what works. We work with the doctors to help people who could never lose weight before and who’s blood sugars are out of control. I want to market this program – where do I start?
Thank you for your answers. One person asked me a couple of questions and I can’t find out how to answer those questions. I hope they get the answer thru this.
I am hoping to market and sell my program to individuals, at seminars, by showing corporations how they can lower their health insurance costs by using my program to enable their employees to be more healthy.

How do I lose weight with juvenile diabetes?

08 Jun

I’m 14 years old and I’ve had juvenile diabetes (otherwise known as type 1 diabetes) for about 3 years. I’m 5′8 and 160 lbs (please no rude comments about my weight.) Would you consider that to be really overweight? If so, how can I exersise without hitting so many low blood sugars? It would kind of defeat the purpose, exersising then drinking juice to get my energy back up. Thanks!

How to get off a weight loss plateau with insulin resistance?

06 Jun

I am on metformin for insulin resistance and have PCOS. I was losing weight steadily for 6 months, and have since hit a one month plateau of no loss (and no gain). I tried increasing vegetables and reducing sugar even more, as well as keeping up with exercise, but it seems to keep me the same and not lose.

Any ideas for coming off the plateau? The doctor recommended coming off metformin for 2 weeks and then restarting. Does that work? Any other ideas?

Weight management program for diabetics?

31 May

I’m trying to find a program that I ran across last week for people with diabetes for my mom. I told her about it and she forgot the name. I don’t think it’s microburn (or something like that) but I saw it on the walgreens.com website but now I can’t find it. Does anyone know the name of any weight management programs for diabetics? Maybe it will jog my memory.
