The fact that the “kit” doesn’t include a pen for the needles makes no sense to me, since it’s almost impossible to find the pens for sale by themselves.

It looks little simple but it does the job, it suppose to.
I am satisfied with this meter and the test strips. Basically all these test kits are used only for estimate and this meter is in fact doing a better job than others, I have used Accucheck in the past, its really bad in readings. Its really value for money you spent.

Over the last year, I’ve been using various meters, trying to find one that would work well as the calibration standard for my DexCom CGM. This is the one that I like the best.
Pro:
– It’s small
– It uses a much smaller blood drop than most meters (and much less than OneTouch meters!) This translates into fewer wasted strips and more shallow lance penetration…and reduced pain.
– AgaMatrix (the manufacturer) claims that it’s the most accurate meter in the retail market. The published charts appear to support this.
– The test strips are a fraction of the cost of other strips (currently ~ $0.35 vs. ~ $1.00 per strip.) This is a huge long term cost savings.
Con:
– Strips are hard to locate in the retail marketplace. You need to reorder before you run out.
In short, I highly recommend that you try this meter.

The Wavesense KeyNote blood glucose meter works as well as any other meter I have used and coupled with the lower cost of test strips can save considerable amounts of money. If you wish to use the available USB cable and Zero-Click software that can be purchased for $45 – $50, then the KeyNote can easily chart your readings in many different formats and assist in managing your blood sugar levels. Highly recommended!
