If you have controlled diabetes and no other pre-existing conditions then there are some major medical health insurance companies that will give you coverage.
If you do not fit into the above criteria then you will probably be forced to choose between:
    1. A group plan (everyone is accepted)
    2. A HIPAA individual plan (everyone is accepted but you must meet certain criteria)
    3. A limited benefit indemnity plan (most that apply are accepted but this is not comprehensive coverage)
Here is some more information on HIPAA plans and also some information on how to find health insurance even with diabetes:

There are a couple of companies who advertise on TV that they even cover pre-existing diseases. Use the search engines to look for health insurance companies then read all their “gunk” to see which ones will help you.
I think it might be just as expensive to try to get these as it is to go ahead and pay for the meds. Get all the meds you can at the generic $4 of Wal Mart, etc. and any discounts you might be able to get from the pharma cos themselves. Test strips do not come under any plan, yet!!
Sorry I am brain dead this morning and cannot remember the names of those I have seen on TV.

I’m sorry about this but, I have the same problem. You can keep looking but, the price is so high it’s out of reach. I have to throw myself on the benefactors program at the hospital I go to for help when I go there. You see, I have the same problem. I’ve had surgery twelve times in six years.
Insurance programs are there to make money, not help you out, that’s the gist of it, sorry.
