I’m reasearching this for my brother in Georgia. He’s currently unemployed and has trouble finding or keeping a steady job, due to his type 1 diabetes, as well as some other mental and physical health problems.
Would Medicaid Pay For Testing Supplies And Provide Insurance For An Unemployed Diabetic?

Have him look into what kind of insurance Georgia has for low income individuals. Most states have something (generally some form of medicaid) but he does have to apply for it.

He should have a Caseworker that is should help him with that. I don’t know the state of Ga polices but his Dr. should be referring him to Social Services that will help him.

Sad to say, we have trouble keeping a job. I was never
able to get a job at all. I have epilepsy as well.
In California, Medicaid will not pay for testing strips.
However, you can get free meters at several places
on the internet. We get our lancets at Wal-Mart because
it is cheaper, there.

I’d have him go to the welfare office in his area and apply for Medicaid. He probably get it.
